Question: Why won’t my new bathtub fixtures fit on the stem?
I’m trying to replace my hot/cold knobs, and my shower/bath toggle knob in my bathtub, and I’ve been to the hardware store many times trying to get the right kind of knob. Nothing is working. What looks like should fit doesn’t, and when we’ve finally found knobs that do fit, they don’t attach properly and the bathtub spout now has a leak. What are we doing wrong? Should we give up on DIY and hire a plumber? (All for stupid bathtub fixtures!!!) So frustrating!

Did you use the white tape on the threads when you screwed it on ?
