Question: Can I replace a mixer shower myself with no plumbing experience?
My exposed valve thermostatic mixer shower is broken, it has no temperature control. When it’s turned on the water that comes out is just whatever temperature water is in the storage tank. I believe what we have is cold water from the mains and hot water from an unvented storage tank with an electric immersion heater. The storage tank and heater seem to work fine as the mixer taps on the sink in the bathroom & in the kitchen work perfectly. So….can I just detach the old valve and shower and put in a new one? Is it just a matter of unscrewing the valve from the pipes that come through the tile and screwing on the new valve? Likewise with the riser/soap dish, just detaching & replacing new for old? Are there any particular tools or methods you’d suggest I use? I have no plumbing experience, but I’m generally good at diy. Do I need a plumber for this job?
Thanks in advance for any help!

if youre a diy’er, you can purchase a how-to book on plumbing and clear illustrations will show the how to on replacing a shower valve. various tools and techniques are required so if your not comfortable, best to hire a plumber. if you purchase the faucet, your looking at no more than 250.00 tops on labor and misc. material
