I’m doing a DIY project of laying vinyl flooring in a bathroom over existing vinyl. Is it advisable?

Question: I’m doing a DIY project of laying vinyl flooring in a bathroom over existing vinyl. Is it advisable?

Answer:

Answer by JustMe
No, it’s not. This was done in our home and we are having to redo it, less than a year afterwards. Where the vinyl chipped through it is showing the other pattern, which ruins the effect. Also parts of it are coming up. This is MUCH more difficult to deal with later than it would have been to just do it correctly in the first place – rip up the old and replace.

Good luck! (:

Plumbing project with PEX and Copper pipes, replace frozen copper pipe. [HTC HD2]

My awesome Carsponsors vid: www.youtube.com I am replacing copper pipes from the attic which burst from freezing over the winter. The replacement piping is PEX, a plastic piping on the market which is much easier to work with than copper. I am using gatorbite couplings which require very little work and are very easy to use. Shot with HTC HD2.

are sanding and re-staining hardwood floors a DIY project?

Question: are sanding and re-staining hardwood floors a DIY project?
we don’t have any experience doing either.. so i’m wondering, is this a project we could takle ourselves (we are planning on refinishing all the hardwood flooring in our house, approximately 1200 sq. ft.) or should we hire it out? and if we did hire someone, does anyone have an idea how much it would cost?

Answer:

Answer by Alexis
Do Not Sand The Floors Your Selves! This is best left to the pros as making a mistake could cost you a fortune! I would hire that part out most definitely, The rest is really not that hard staining is simple so is poly urethane or varathane just follow the directions. I have no Idea where you live so I don’t know what it would cost in your area prices vary I would call around and get a few estatments and make sure they are insured in case they screw up your floors!

I am buying a home with hardwood floors. They don’t seem to be in too bad of shape and I wish to clean and shine them.

If they’re still in good shape you can just use a wood polish.
