My bathroom sink is not draining fast enough, is there a product that can help with ventilation?

Question: My bathroom sink is not draining fast enough, is there a product that can help with ventilation?
When my plumber installed the pipes for my bathroom sink, a vent stack was not installed. I saw a Diy tip that would help with this, but I didn’t know the name of the product. Can someone please help?

the plumber should have vented the sink this is a code requirement in most states. you must either have one installed or u could buy a p-trap kit that comes with a spring load vent this is cheaper but sometimes illegal too.

i believe you can get them at lowes

Garage conversion DIY can you help what are legal requirements for walls, floors, ceiling. I understand that for ceilings you need insulation laid both ways.Do you need to fix a waterproof membrane to walls etc.

the best trick is to invite a builder to quote on how much the works will cost and while he is doing a quotation – ask him questions, saying that you want to do this and that, but don’t know if it’s legal or not.
even if he asks money for the survey – it will be well worth it.
Or pay the architect for the drawing – which shouldn’t cost that much for the garage, will help you imagine what goes where and he will know all the building regs as well – so you can feel free to ask him about them!

Floor boards and roof boards exchanged in shed – help?

DIY roof
by Dan4th

Question: Floor boards and roof boards exchanged in shed – help?
Hi,

I bought a Heartland 8′X12′ DIY Stratford shed from Lowes. After erecting all four walls, I just realized that I have used the 7/16″ thick OSB boards for the floor, which were meant for the roof, instead of the 5/8″ thick boards. The floor seems weak when I walk on it, and I am not sure if the thicker floor boards should be put on the roof or not, since they will add more weight. What are my options? Do I have to dismantle every thing (two days of hard work!) and replace the floor boards, or should I put the 5/8″ boards on top of the floor (after cutting holes/recesses for the columns and supports,) and buy 7/16 boards for the roof?

Please help.

Thanks,
Prajapati

If it were me, I would go get three more sheets of 5/8″ (the 7/16″ would be OK) and lay it offset over the 7/16″ floor. Stagger the joints so that you get additional strength. Cut one sheet lengthwise at 2′ (the plywood will be 2′x8′) and start at one end and work you way across the shed. Yes, you will need to notch for each wall stud unless you were lazy like me and get some 2″x3″s and cut them to lay down between each wall stud. (That would make all straight cuts for the floor.) Use brown deck screws 1-5/8″ or 2″ and screw down into each floor joist about one foot apart. Then I would get a stain or a non latex paint and lay a thick coat over the floor and let it dry for a couple days. This would be a nice floor for my motorcycles, lawnmower, gas cans, etc, and I wouldn’t have to worry about oils or other liquids seeping into the wood floor and making it weak.
Two, maybe three hours for the floor, and about half and hour for the paint.
A nice looking shed deserves a nice looking floor.

need garage roof insulation help!!!?

Question: need garage roof insulation help!!!?
im 16 and basically me and my mates are turning my garage into a game room type thing. its fairly old but will be good in the summer etc.

anyway we got some carpet and painted the walls and everything, but the roof still remains. i am in no way any kind of DIY expert but my gramp knows a thing or two so any kind of work done will be by him.

anyway at the moment the roof is a metal type thing like this…

http://www.filterforge.com/filters/2140.jpg

not very appealing in what will be our game room. so im asking what kind of options for insulation or just generally anything that can make it look better do i have.

taking the roof of is pretty much out of the question and it needs to be as cheap as possible. i not thinking of anything fancy just anything that looks better than dirty metal roofing :(

i was maybe thinking cardboard/wooden sheets or something but tbh i have no idea about DIY

any help will be much appreciated!

you can install a drop ceiling but depending on the size its not very cheap. one car garage would be like 200-300. I would just leave it how it is. it will give it a industrial feel which is popular now.

Question: I have recently joined Yahoo answers to help homeowners with wood flooring diy questions.?
I admit that I also want to drive traffic to my website but I also want to help equally as much. However, when I put what I think are application search guidelines, not much pops up and what does pop up has been answered years ago. Please help the yahoo answers newbie out of a pickle.

This may not be the best place to promote your business. It seems most of the questions around here come from teenagers worried about their skin problems, how to get a day, or getting pregnant. >shrug<
