Just moved from what should be considered a very dangerous rental house?

Question: Just moved from what should be considered a very dangerous rental house?
I lived there for some time while I was dealing with some depression issues so stayed far longer then I should have. Many shocks from bad wiring, bare 220 wires to the house from the stack, sewer gas and a leaking toilet down pipe from DIY plumbing, and everything from black mold in a wet basement to rotting wood on the porch. My question is how can I get the landlord to take responsibility for this place and not put someone else at risk who won’t know of the dangers beforehand. I live in a fairly rural community and the powers that be are rather meager in their capabilities I think. Is there some legal standing which can be taken to force the repairs before this place is rented again or sold? Appreciate any guidance. Thanks
Wow I never thought about the FD. But I got starting to feel better about myself and moved. What a difference living in a place where the owner cares about the habitat. My main concern is that this jerk will talk some young mom into it and they I will be worried sick. Will check with the building inspector. Thanks much.
Damn! Landlord, I hate it but you have a point, All I want to do is try to protect the next tenant. If it is found I have no claim then fine but there must be a way. Actually when I was there I felt I deserved it but I am glad to be rid of the place. But as was said there must be a way.

Every town has a housing inspector. They also have a fire department. Call the regular fire department phone number and tell them u think wires are about cause a fire. They may send out truck. If it is that bad u may be on your way to free motel living till its fixed.

low-level toilet leaking from joint to waste pipe, even when bowl and cistern are empty. How to fix please?

Question: low-level toilet leaking from joint to waste pipe, even when bowl and cistern are empty. How to fix please?
The waste pipe is inserted at the back of the toilet into a waste pipe going to the sewage system. It’s been badly sealed in the first place and 1) I am NOT going back to that guy; 2) I have no money for a plumber, so it’s diy time. I cannot stop the leaking to make it dry for using silicone sealant. Someone suggested Denzo tape, but what is it in French?!? Cheap, clever help would be appreciated.

polking string calk in there may help, or some thing called plummers putty.

you could try to tighten it with a pipe wrench, but be care full and take it easy. If it won’t turn for you, let it be then

We are DIY’ers that are taking a floor refinishing lesson from a local pro. Does his advice sound right?

Question: We are DIY’ers that are taking a floor refinishing lesson from a local pro. Does his advice sound right?
My husband and I found a local floor pro that is trying to expand his business by teaching people how to redo their own hardwood floors. He has suggested that we rent a “slow-speed sander” also called a “buffer”. He said that this sander will show grooves less than a drum sander. The problem is that all of the sanding screens that we will need will cost $ 300, according to him. Is there a cheaper, yet still easy option?

What you are paying for the class, buffer rental, sanding pads, time chasing it all down and the finish you could pay some one to do it already.
