Does laminate floor need to be glued down?

DIY floor
by wok

Question: Does laminate floor need to be glued down?
I’m fitting the floor in my sons bedroom, the guy in the DIY store talked me through it and sold me what I needed. When I got home and read the fitting kit, it says the boards need to be glued together, but the guy said it didn’t. Now I’m confused! Please help.
…Ok I checked the packaging, it says it clicks together. The other thing I’d been reading was a separate package which had the spacers and pulling bar etc. in it. I’m a fool! Thanks so much for all your help guys :)
I’m all set now, got the underlay, got the boards, got the energy?…. nah I’ll do it tomorrow! = D

it will depend on the type.
The one i have clicks together, kinda like a big jigsaw which isn’t very difficult!
If the guy has lied then take it back to the shop

210 gallon tank able to stand on floor boards?

Question: 210 gallon tank able to stand on floor boards?
I’m moving house next week and stupidly assumed the floor underneath the laminate was concrete – I’ve been to the house today to measure up and I think the floor underneath is boards, I have a big tank which holds 210 gallons of water and would like to know if anyone knows if it would be okay to stand on floor boards? if not then is there anything I can do? Thanks Carly

P.s Sorry for the repeat question but I really need some answers! so I’ve stuck it in fish & diy.

Can you just relocate it to the basement? That is a lot of weight, and if it is a saltwater tank, thats troubling. Not just b/c the floor may not hold, but if it does… it will likely lean forward. So, best thing you can do is add a few braces to the floor from underneath. You should consult a carpenter or something.

What’s the correct treatment needed for sanding, varnishing and polishing a parquet floor.?

Question: What’s the correct treatment needed for sanding, varnishing and polishing a parquet floor.?
I have just bought a 1930s flat in south west london and on ripping the carpet up i found it had a parquet floor underneath. Yay! But in really bad condition. The carpet was actually glued to it! Shock! There are also many lose slats/tiles and I would love to restore it to its former glory; however, i really don’t know where to start and any advice would be much appriciated. We had a quote for over £700 but we can’t afford that so its going to have to be a DIY job.

Use an adhesive remover to get the old glue up. Glue or nail down any loose tiles. Sand the entire floor. Finish with your choice of floor finishes. Here’s a good site that goes into a little more detail (with pics).
