Question: Possible to create a 2nd story on a double wide mobile home?
Ok, well we have a double wide that we purchased, and is no were close to being finished. So instead of adding on to the side of the house my father wanted to create a second story. So to add a staircase we would cut a hole though the roof in front of the doorway. (sorry dont know what there called) and then continue building up after the floor is in. I have a picture so you get an idea of what im talking about. We are going to build on the outer walls to match the peak of the roof. He also wants to do 1 board going straight across so its not really resting that much on the roof but on the sides. The house in the picture is not ours but close to what ours looks like. House is 26 feet wide.. forgot the length sorry.

Also the house has the big steel bars going though out the bottom of the floors… they are sitting on concrete blocks. There is also a concrete slab which the house sits on. Thanks for any answers! Any questions i will answer.

Sorry if i didnt make myself clear. I would like to know if its structurally sound. i.e. isnt going to collapse on me when im sleeping lol.

Mobile homes can barely hold themselves up. I would never put anything on top of one.
If you want to make a frame around your mobile home and put your new addition on your frame, not resting on the mobile home itself, go for it.
