Possible to create a 2nd story on a double wide mobile home?

Question: Possible to create a 2nd story on a double wide mobile home?
Ok, well we have a double wide that we purchased, and is no were close to being finished. So instead of adding on to the side of the house my father wanted to create a second story. So to add a staircase we would cut a hole though the roof in front of the doorway. Now to add the second story we would cut off the http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&biw=1745&bih=855&tbm=isch&tbnid=-fhYvzMyZ8D0tM:&imgrefurl=http://www.familyhandyman.com/DIY-Projects/How-A-House-Works/Home-Improvements/screen-porch-construction/Step-By-Step&docid=FJkwrYXU26V7RM&imgurl=http://hostedmedia.reimanpub.com/TFH/Step-By-Step/FH06MAY_SCREPR_08.JPG&w=450&h=355&ei=0KtnT7ySGcXItge2x_GZCQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=1273&vpy=381&dur=6228&hovh=199&hovw=253&tx=140&ty=75&sig=109512313669892897681&page=1&tbnh=153&tbnw=188&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:29,s:0

(sorry dont know what there called) and then continue building up after the floor is in. I have a picture so you get an idea of what im talking about. We are going to build on the outer walls to match the peak of the roof. He also wants to do 1 board going straight across so its not really resting that much on the roof but on the sides. The house in the picture is not ours but close to what ours looks like. House is 26 feet wide.. forgot the length sorry.

Also the house has the big steel bars going though out the bottom of the floors… they are sitting on concrete blocks. There is also a concrete slab which the house sits on. Thanks for any answers! Any questions i will answer.

Thanks,

Cody

Mobile homes can barely hold themselves up. I would never put anything on top of one.

If you want to make a frame around your mobile home and put your new addition on your frame, not resting on the mobile home itself, go for it.

need permit for shed if i purchase this on amazon?

Question: need permit for shed if i purchase this on amazon?

it is ridiculous to have to get a permit for a diy shed such as this one. Is it true?

Answer:

Answer by ohhhdear
It depends on your city or township’s ordinances. Most will require a building permit if you’re putting the shed on a cement slab. It doesn’t matter where you bought the shed. You could have bought it from Home Depot, Menard’s or the guy who builds shed kits down the road. If you’re going to permanently install it on a slab, you may need a permit (and it may raise your property taxes).
Check with a local lumberyard that sells shed kits. They’ll know if you’ll need a building permit or not.

low-level toilet leaking from joint to waste pipe, even when bowl and cistern are empty. How to fix please?

Question: low-level toilet leaking from joint to waste pipe, even when bowl and cistern are empty. How to fix please?
The waste pipe is inserted at the back of the toilet into a waste pipe going to the sewage system. It’s been badly sealed in the first place and 1) I am NOT going back to that guy; 2) I have no money for a plumber, so it’s diy time. I cannot stop the leaking to make it dry for using silicone sealant. Someone suggested Denzo tape, but what is it in French?!? Cheap, clever help would be appreciated.

polking string calk in there may help, or some thing called plummers putty.

you could try to tighten it with a pipe wrench, but be care full and take it easy. If it won’t turn for you, let it be then
