Question: Moss on my roof – anyone know an effective way to remove it?
Can it be jet washed off? Or does bleach work or moss remover from DIY shop?
Any ideas welcome!!
Thanks.

If it’s on tiles, leave it there. It’s a sign that the tiles have gone porous. The moss is waterproof: clean it off and you’ll get damp problems.
On a flat roof, you’ll normally find that it’s attached to the chippings rather than the roof itself. Sweep up the moss and chippings (let it rot down, then it’s a great improver for clay soil). Rechip using spar rather than crushed slate.

I would just try waterblasting it. If that doesn’t work use 30 second spray and walk away
wet the moss, watering can/hose/washer etc
then sprinkle washing soda crystals all over it
wait 48 hours, get a yard broom, or stiff brush, and it will all brush away
then pressure wash if you have one to remove any residue
old know it all definitely got it wrong …stupid advise moss holds a lot of water …its heavy and unsightly …and does nothing to protect the roof …and it has nothing to do with porous tiles …it got more to do with trees close by hiding sun ..leaving roof wet ..im a builder over 40 years …i all ways use my roof ladder ..start at top and scrape it off then brush down with a stiff brush work my way down roof its not hard …you can jet wash but it tends to leave the roof too clean stick out like a sore thumb
Spray it with Round Up. I get moss on my pontoon boat carpeting and round up kills it dead.
You did not say what the roofing material is.
If it is asphalt strip shingles, like used typically in the New England area, do not use a high pressure hose to clean it off, this can damage your shingles. Also do not use a stiff broom to clean it off, as this will also damage shingles.
There are companies that specialize on removing this in the New England area. They spray a cleaner on the roof first, let it work for a while, then come back with a low pressure spray to clean it off.
This advise only applies to strip shingles, not tile or flat roofs.
Spray it with vinegar. Household vinegar kills vegetation. After it’s dead you can try hosing it off and if that doesn’t work use a pressure washer.
