Question: what could be the causes if I have damp in my sons bedroom?
It’s in the corner of his room. It’s made the wallpaper come away and there are like black patches on the wall. There is a fall-pipe on the external wall that allows the rain on to a lean to roof on a bay window. There are no signs showing on the ceiling of the bay window. The lead flashing looks generally sound apart from some mortar that may be missing. Are there DIY treatments I can buy to seal the flashing and also apply to the internal wall to provide a barrier to stop the damp returning?

Question: How do I stop mice/rats getting in using wire wool?
I recently had a rat and mouse problem in my flat as they were living in the roof of the building and coming into the flats.We’ve now had the all-clear from the pest controller but I want to block off the holes they were using to get into my flat.Does this wire wool stuff work with both rats and mice?Do you just put it into the hole or do you then have to plaster over it (and, if so, how and with what – I’m a DIY novice!)

Use Chore Boy brass dish scrubbing pads. Cut each one up and put that in the hole. Because it’s brass/copper, it won’t rust and leave stains down the side of the building.
